SHOW WRAP UP: HUNDREDS VISIT MINTED PROSE & ZOOM HUNGARY BOOTH AT NEW YORK TIMES TRAVEL SHOW

January 22, 2016, NEW YORK, NY

The Minted Prose and ZoOm Hungary booth was buzzing with people who had either been to Hungary or were looking to visit. The New York Times Travel Show at the Jacob Javits Center in NYC from Jan. 8–11, 2016 was hopping. While The Memory Book was new to many of them, once they saw it, they were eager to learn more about it. We, of course, had some people stop by to let us know how greatly they had enjoyed it. And others lingered to learn more about what we were offering once they had seen our great booth video featuring iconic images of Budapest.

“The show was a great experience and super way to connect directly with those interested in Hungary’s present and past,” said Linda Fischer, author of The Memory Book. “The Memory Book, with its historical tidbits and travel storyline, turned out to be the perfect complement to tours of Hungary.”

In addition to unveiling a variety of highly successful tours in Hungary, ZoOm Hungary introduced a new tour: The Memory Book Tour. The Memory Book Tour features key places mentioned in The Memory Book. It will show what life was like for the young girl who penned the memory book a hundred years ago. In doing so, the tour reveals the remnants of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy which is of much relevancy today.

The Memory Book Tour piqued the curiosity of many travel agents and travel lovers as offering another lens through which one could come to understand Europe and Hungary’s rich and complicated past.

Another exciting element of the show came Sunday as author Linda Fischer and Hungarian National Tourist Office (HNTO) Director Magdolna Fekete introduced the Hungarian dance group Delibab on the Consumer Stage. Sponsored by the HNTO, the bright traditional costumes of the dancers lit the imagination of the audience. With the dancers kicking up their heels, it was a standing room only event.

After the performance on the Consumer Stage, the group visited the Minted Prose/ZoOm Hungary booth as a “flash mob,” singing, dancing and taking pictures with attendees.

Finally, there were nine lucky winners of The Memory Book taken from our three drawings. One winner exclaimed, “What a great way to start a new Year!” and another one said, “I’m looking forward to reading it.”

All in all, it was a hit and we are very pleased to have participated in this premier travel event in the industry.
