REVIEW: THE BUDAPEST TIMES GIVES THE MEMORY BOOK 5 STARS FOR WOMEN

July 24, 2015, Budapest, Hungary

The Memory Book received a glowing review in The Budapest Times and of course we are delighted to share this news with you. Calling the book “‘Eat, Pray, Love’ for the Hungarian Soul,” reviewer Lee Reaney wrote that “the book will appeal to those who love history, culture, or the region.” She gave the book five out of five stars for women readers.

The reviewer noted that The Memory Book is not a typical memoir or travelogue. It shows how two women’s lives, divided by a century, become “intertwined in their desire to share their memories,” according to Reaney. The real memory book was filled with evergreen truisms and aphorisms which inspired author Linda Fischer. Fischer takes readers on a journey through places that were once part of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy, helping them become more acquainted with places they may have heard of, visited already, or would like to visit sometime.

“While sharing in this once-popular pastime for girls is sure to appeal more to the female-oriented ‘Eat, Pray, Love’ audience, there is enough insight, intelligence, and introspection to keep even the most knowledgeable Hungarophiles interested,” Reaney wrote.

“So if you’re looking for the Austro-Hungarian equivalent to ‘Eat, Pray, Love,’ an engrossing summer travel companion or an interesting primer into turn-of-the-century Austro-Hungary, pick up a copy of Fischer’s ‘Memory Book’.”

BZT Media Kft. produces the English-language weekly The Budapest Times and the German-language weekly Budapester Zeitung. BZT Media Kft. said they are the only weeklies in their respective languages on the market. On their website they said that both of their papers are primarily read by German- and English- speaking expatriate business people, as well as members of the diplomatic corps. In addition, there is a growing appeal to Hungarians attracted to politically independent reports, to those interested in their exclusive interviews, and for individuals trying to enhance their language skills, according to BZT Media Kft. They said a significant number of language schools use their articles to prepare their students for special language exams.
