PRESS RELEASE: PUBLISHER OFFERS ROBUST TEACHER’S GUIDE FOR A DACHSHUND’S WISH
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Traitor Dachshund, LLC, publisher of A Dachshund’s Wish, a children’s book scheduled to hit bookstores this month, is offering elementary school teachers rich and robust lesson plans and activities to be used with their book in classrooms.
The publisher has received 2,751 requests for the Teacher’s Guide, even before the book was released, and expects more requests leading up to the book’s launch in June. A Dachshund’s Wish will be available for purchase wherever books are sold or through Independent Publishers Group at www.ipgbook.com.
A Dachshund’s Wish by Joe Tavano follows Paws, a dachshund puppy, on his quest to become a boy. In the process, Paws is helped by a variety of animal friends. Paws—along with the book’s young readers—soon discovers that just being yourself can be the greatest adventure of all.
The 24-page Teacher’s Guide for A Dachshund’s Wish can be downloaded free from the publisher’s Web site, Traitor Dachshund (Update 5/19/16: The lesson plans are only available in video format now.) It includes ideas for classroom discussions, writing projects, and suggestions for art and math activities. Children will be especially charmed by the full-color worksheets available in the plan, which are illustrated with original watercolor drawings of Paws, taken straight from the book.
The Guide also introduces vocabulary words from the book. It even has suggestions on how to assist children in writing their own book, by developing plot ideas and creating characters and settings.
“A Dachshund’s Wish is a delightful read-aloud story that is particularly suited for classroom use,” said Linda Purpura, President of Traitor Dachshund, LLC. “The variety of rich animal characters entrances children. It appeals to every child who has wanted to be something else, and the central message of how great it is to be yourself is a universal theme we want to convey to children.”
“At Traitor Dachshund, we put a tremendous effort into making sure that the books we publish have an educational element, while also being inspiring and enjoyable to read.” Experienced teachers were instrumental in the development of the Teacher’s Guide. These educators looked to their years of experience in the classroom to help produce a plan that works for both teachers and students alike.
